And while I’m all for the thrill of a highly volatile slot, it’s the RTP that I’m a tad concerned about. It’s quite low at 95.27% and means that potential wins are spread out across a wider number of spins. It’s not necessarily a deal breaker, but it does somewhat dampen the overall experience.

Wilds upgrade thanks to win multipliers, while scatters also serve as the game’s most valuable symbols on the paytable. All of these different mechanics come together in the free spins segment, building on top of one another to deliver an excellent sense of progression.

Win potential is also quite good, with a max win cap of 4,828x your stake and a maximum bet level of 200 coins. Sure, it doesn’t quite compare with other highly volatile slots that can deliver colossal maximum wins, but I still managed to walk away with some fairly satisfying prizes.

But as I mentioned earlier, it’s not all roses and daisies here. While free spins manage to put together all the different functions to create a holistic experience, base games feel empty and dull. Sure, you get the gamble feature to inject some excitement into the spins, but I would have liked to see a more interesting mechanic being added in. It would have made sure these spins were also fun enough to keep you going until you hit free spins. Add a disappointingly low RTP and you’re left with a pretty uneven video slot.

So, Stampede ultimately didn’t deliver the complete package it set out to put together. And while there’s still plenty of fun to be had here, I can think of loads of more enticing African wildlife-themed video slots.
