Moneyfest Slot (Demo)

Released in July 2023, Moneyfest is a Popiplay slot that blends the opposing worlds of lavish luxury and pigs. It’s like The Great Gatsby crossed with Animal Farm and shown the value of materialism. It has 5 reels and up to 20 paylines, but players can switch to 5 and 10 payline versions as they aim for the game’s 4,320x max win.

What I Think About the Moneyfest Slot

I love Popiplay slots, so I expected a lot from this one. It did impress me with its strong RTP and fun features, as well as the chance to change the grid size, but I was disappointed with the design. It could have been so much better, especially considering the slots I’ve seen from Popiplay in the past.

How We Rate Slots

Moneyfest underwent the same rigorous review process as all of the slot machines on JohnSlots. I have been playing games like this for many years and always seek to give you the best of my experience and knowledge when reviewing slot games.

Each game is tested extensively on desktop and mobile platforms, first with demo play and then with real money. After all, every player is different, and I can’t properly rate a slot machine until I play it as you play it.

You can learn more about how we rate here, but some of the things that I considered in this Moneyfest slot review include:

  • The game’s payouts, including max payout, RTP, and volatility
  • The chances of getting a win
  • The stake range
  • Originality and novelty
  • Unique features and gaming mechanics
  • The slot design and gameplay
  • User experience

Pros & Cons of the Moneyfest Slot

I loved the features on Moneyfest, especially the free spins. It could have used something extra, but the inclusion of retriggers and multipliers, as well as the chance to win 4,320x, ensures the main feature is attention-grabbing.

The same can’t be said for the design, though. It’s not terrible, but there’s so much more that the developers could have done with the theme.

The fact that you can set your own paylines is a nice touch, but there’s not a whole lot of sense behind it. I would have preferred to see an option that added additional Wilds, Wild Reels, or Scatters along with these expanded rows, even if there was an extra cost for unlocking them.

Pros
  • Thumbs-Up Good RTP
  • Thumbs-Up Big Free Spins
  • Thumbs-Up Re-triggerable Feature with Multipliers
  • Thumbs-Up Wilds and Instant Win Feature
  • Thumbs-Up Chance to Change the Grid Size
Cons
  • Thumbs-Down Dull Theme
  • Thumbs-Down A Maximum of Just 20 Paylines

Pro Tips

You will see two limos parked at the bottom of the screen. They’re not there to take you on a drive across town, where you can pop your head through the sunroof and gloat to your friends and neighbours. They block the game grid, removing a reel each.

Unlike slots where you have to blast blocks away in bonus rounds, these limos can be removed pre-game by clicking the arrows on the left. They expand the grid without increasing the cost.

It’s all down to preference. Personally, I had more luck with a full grid and recommend this way of playing. You may get luckier with smaller payouts if you keep it condensed, but if you’re chasing the bonuses as I was, it’s best to expand the grid.

Moneyfest Slot Bonus Features and Free Spins

There are a few Moneyfest slot features to activate:

Wilds

The rich pigs in this slot hoard all of their money into little Red Safes, and these serve as the game’s Wild symbols. They will substitute for everything except the Scatter and Coin symbols, but that’s not all, as these symbols can also retrigger the feature when it’s already active.

I saw my multiplier jump to 2x when I did this in my own playthrough.

Scatter Symbol

The little golden piggy bank is the Scatter. You need three of these to launch the feature, and they appear on all of the game’s reels.

Free Spins with Progress Bar

The green payout table to the right of the reels comes into play during the free spins. Every Red Safe you see is collected and added to the bar. This is where you can retrigger the spins and collect multipliers.

If you fill one of the sections, a pig character will assume their position in the table, and at the end of the feature, a new batch of spins will commence, this time with a multiplier (2x, 3x, and then 10x).

Instant Prize

Look out for the Coin symbols. They can land in both the base game and frees spins feature and deliver instant prizes. If they appear along with a Wild symbol, the latter collects them, and the total is added to your payout.

Moneyfest Slot Design and Visuals

If I told you there was a Popiplay slot filled with anthropomorphised pigs living a luxurious lifestyle and showing off with limos, cash, fine jewellery, and wads of cash, you’d probably expect something pretty special.

I certainly did. I love quirky slots, and I love what Popiplay has done in the past. It seemed like the perfect combination, but it wasn’t. I found the game to be a little lacking.

Firstly, the backdrop is a dull grey building that takes up a large portion of the screen. There is little dynamism and no animations beyond the occasional blink from the Female Pig symbol and swaying searchlights that draw a glint from the lower-paying Cash symbols.

It’s not bad, but it could have been so much better. I expected more from the creator who gave us slots like Cultist.

How to Play the Moneyfest Slot

The first thing you’ll need to do when playing the Moneyfest slot is decide how many rows and paylines you want. I opted for the maximum, but it’s your choice. Keep the game in default mode for 5 paylines, click one of the arrow icons next to the limos for 10 paylines, and click the second arrow for 20.

Use the minus and plus icons to adjust your wager from a low of £0.10 to £50, and then hit the big button on the right to spin. A “Buy Bonus” icon is available if you want to jump straight to the main feature (at a cost of 100x the bet), and there’s also a Boost Chance 2x that doubles the odds of landing the feature at a cost of 25% more.

However, these options are not available in all jurisdictions, including the UK.

Moneyfest Slot Mobile Compatibility

I feel like there is a lot of wasted space on the main screen of the Moneyfest slot. I have already discussed how this is one of my issues with its design. On mobile, however, that issue is mostly remedied. It’s streamlined, condensed, and it looks much better as a result.

I usually prefer desktop or tablets to playing on mobile. In this case, I think a smartphone is the best way to enjoy Moneyfest. It’s worth noting, however, that I tested it on the largest models of both iPhone and Samsung devices, and it might not look as good on smaller devices.

Conclusion

Although I enjoyed playing the Moneyfest slot—changing the grid size, unlocking free spins, retriggering those spins—the design is a little lacking. I don’t mean to keep beating the same old drum on this, but I’ve seen what Popiplay can do, and I expected much more from the Moneyfest theme.

Still, it’s a decent design with some great features, so it’s well worth a spin.

FAQ

If you couldn’t find what you were looking for in this Moneyfest review, check out the FAQs below or get in touch, and I’ll help as best I can.

Sticking with the default grid might attract more frequent—but smaller—wins, but opening them up adds more chances to win big and unlock features.

The game has a maximum payout of 4,320x.

It is a progress bar that comes into play during the main feature. Collect Red Safe symbols to fill each section, and if you complete one, you’ll get more spins with an added multiplier.

It is if you want to trigger the feature and don’t mind the additional 2x cost. Such options aren’t available in all jurisdictions, though.
