Misery Mining Review

We’ve seen all kinds of dark and gory themes from Nolimit City, and while Misery Mining isn’t as controversial as some of the previous titles, it has just enough darkness to fit their style. It’s another release in the developer’s arsenal with the xBomb feature, which removes all adjacent symbols and boosts the win multiplier whether it’s a win or not. Featuring the previously seen gold-mining dwarf turned alcoholic, this slot promises an even crazier ride if you’re prepared to follow him deep underground. Before you do, read our slot review to learn more about the twists and turns inside the dingy mining shaft.

Misery Mining Bonus Features

Loosely based on Fire in the Hole, the Misery Mining title has some resemblance when it comes to bonus features, but with a few tweaks. This is especially true during the base game where all 4 reel barriers can expand to fully open up the playing field, making things a little crazy. Other than expanding barriers, the game also has the previously seen xBomb wild multipliers, super scatters and a 2-mode free spins bonus round with an army of enhancer symbols bonus features. Non-UK players can also benefit from the developer’s usual multi-level bonus buy feature.

Wilds

A xBomb wild multiplier can substitute for all paying symbols except scatters and super scatters to form a win. When it bursts, you’ll see it removing all adjacent symbols from the grid except the said scatters and boosting the multiplier by 1x while also triggering the Collapsing Mine feature as it explodes. The best part is the multiplier will increase whether it’s a win or not.

Scatters

Landing 3 S scatters or a combination of S and super scatters will activate the 2-mode free spins bonus round. When triggered with 3 S scatters, the bonus round starts on a regular 3×3 grid. 3 S scatters + 1 or 2 super scatters will reveal a 4×4 or 5×5 grid respectively.

Collapsing Mine Feature

You’ll start the game on a 7×7 grid with only 3×3 reals active. Your goal in the base game is to explode xBombs next to the barriers and move them out of the way to increase the play area and ways to win. If you succeed at landing a xBomb in the centre of the grid, all barriers will move 1 step. A collapse can also be triggered with a winning combination or when there’s only 1 or 2 scatters in view, also known as the xBomb Mining feature.

xBomb Mining Feature

When 1-2 regular or super scatters fail to trigger the bonus round during the base game, they’ll transform into non-wild xBombs and trigger a new collapse as they erupt. The respective barriers will shift one step and the win multiplier will increase 1x for the next collapse.

Free Spins

Triggered with 3 regular scatters or a combination of S and super scatters, the free spins round presents Mouse and Rat modes for you to pick from before the feature starts. The Mouse mode has high volatility and starts with 8, 10 or 12 free spins depending on the triggering scatters. The Rat mode offers 3 free spins, with a chance to reset them to 3 with each coin wagon or scatter landed, but the volatility is turned up to an extreme level. You’ll see triggering scatters and super scatters moving around on the active 3×3 play area with side collectors on reels 1 and 7 and the bottom reel locked during the round. Whenever a coin value appears above the scatters, they’ll collect it and dish it out to the left, right or both ways, depending on where the scatters are positioned. The top row above the reels is reserved for special symbols. If these enhancer symbols, except the rat, land directly above the scatters and super scatters, they’ll activate, like so:

  • Coin wagons – the value of the coin wagon is added to the closest side collector + scatter.
  • Multipliers – boost the value of any super scatter’s current multiplier for the duration of the bonus round.
  • Bomb – blows up blocked positions surrounding scatters + activates side and bottom collectors.
  • Bag – collects all scatter and open side collector values in view on the corresponding reel and adds the collected value to the scatter that activated the enhancer.
  • Chest – collects all scatter and open side collector values in view within 3 reels.
  • Dwarf – he’ll stick to the lowest triggering scatter and remain on the reels for the duration of the round collecting values from all scatters and super scatters within 3 reels on every spin.
  • Rat – crawls its way down on reels 1 or 7, adds all values along the way to an unopened collector and then opens it.
  • Super scatter – adds +2 spins in the Mouse mode and resets free spins to 3 in the Rat mode.

Misery Mining Jackpot

It’s not the jackpot that the dwarf is after in the mines. He’s digging deeper than ever for a chance to extract valuable treasures worth an impressive 70,000x your stake!

RTP and Volatility

The overall volatility set by the developer is high, but you can play with a higher, extreme level even, when you pick the Rat free spins mode. Beware of a dual RTP rate and look for casinos offering 96.05%.
