In following the video slot’s retro joker theme, Joker’s Jewels offers a traditional setup made up of five reels and three rows. This features five fixed paylines that always pay from left to right. You’ll need a minimum of three identical symbols (except the blue crystal which only needs two) to score a winning combination. The more symbols you have in a combination, the better the payout.

Do I Recommend Joker’s Jewels

I went into Joker’s Jewels hoping for a modernized retro experience and I wasn’t disappointed.

Pragmatic Play has managed to stick to a genuine joker theme that is reminiscent of a bygone era without ever feeling dated. The design is minimal and devoid of most animations we get with modern releases, but the included backdrop and symbols are still of a very high quality.

The feature list is, well not very long at all. Apart from the scatter symbols’ ability to pay on any position, Joker’s Jewels is devoid of any bonus mechanics, and this can prove to be a double-edged sword. I enjoyed the simple gameplay loop and found the solid payouts very refreshing.

What you see is basically what you get, and I never felt like I had to unlock a bonus to ever get to the higher payouts. With that being said, for players who are used to games with a variety of bonus features on offer, this can quickly start to feel bare and boring.

The math model is even with a 96.5% RTP and medium to high volatility. My only qualm here is the max bet level which caps at £25 and considering the 1,000x max win cap, this can significantly limit potential rewards.

So, if you’re a purist looking for authentic yet modern joker retro slot gameplay, then this is the right slot for you. But if you need more spice and excitement in your video slots, then you’d best give this one a miss.
