Hugo 2 Slot Review
Hugo 2 slot was launched in 2017, a year after the initial Hugo video slots game was released. The scary witch Afskylia makes an appearance in the sequel but eagle-eyed players will notice that the troll’s wife Hugolina has been left out this time, as has Don Croco, the witch’s crocodilian henchman.
In his latest adventure, Hugo sets off underground in pursuit of treasure stolen by his nemesis and stashed away within some mines. Players will see symbols that evoke that kind of environment, including hard hats, bags of gold, mining carts, whistles, levers and more.
There’s no shortage of features to unearth in Hugo 2, with Wilds, Scatters, Free Spins and a bonus game to enjoy.
This is the second slot featuring Hugo the troll, with a third – Hugo Goal – having been released in the summer of 2018. Altogether, the Hugo titles make a lovely trilogy of games, with each bringing new and interesting features to the table. A welcome addition to the Play ‘n Go slots collection.

Hugo 2 bonus features
Even if you’re not a fan of quirky little trolls (though really, who isn’t?), Hugo 2 has plenty of features that will appeal to casino players, not least a high volatility level and plenty of ways to boost a winning combo.
Wilds
Hugo himself appears as the Wild symbol. When he appears, players can look forward to a x50 multiplier on their stake. Hugo will also substitute for any other symbol, including the Scatter.
Scatters
The eager Beaver represents the Scatter symbol on the Hugo 2 reels and it can appear simultaneously on reels 1, 3 and 5. When it does, the Troll Race Free Spins feature is triggered, starting off with 10 free spins.
A special Scatter symbol – the Beaver Cleaver – can be triggered at random and will reward players with an additional 5 spins up to twice, which means 10 extra free spins in total. Triggered a third time, this feature will take players to the Skull Cavern Bonus feature, with 3 lives.
Hugo 2 free spins
In Hugo 2, the free spins feature is called the Troll Race. The aim of this game is to collect bags of gold. Two can be collected on every spin and when 4 or more are gathered, a further 4 Wild symbols are added to the reels, replacing 4 other symbols.
Free spins also offer the chance to collect multiplier coins, up to 2 on every spin. Collect 4 or more coins to apply four x2 multipliers to any four displayed symbols, which can mean an overall multiplier factor of x8.
Hugo 2 Bonus Game
There are two ways to trigger the Skull Cavern bonus feature on Hugo 2. Players can either land the Beaver Cleaver three times to launch this game, as described above, or 3 or more of the witch Afskylia symbols. Land 3, 4 or 5 of these symbols to receive 1, 2, or 3 lives, respectively.
You’re going to need those where you’re going – Skull Cavern! Players get to choose which path to follow, using up lives if they encounter trouble. Three hazards and it’s all over. Reach the final treasure chamber to try your hand at opening the treasure chest. Choose the correct key from the ones on offer for a win. If you make it to the treasure chamber with all lives intact, a x5 multiplier will be applied to the win earned.
Hugo 2 jackpot
Hugo 2 does not offer a jackpot. Players will note that the many opportunities to earn multipliers will help to boost wins significantly.
RTP
The Return to Player on Hugo 2 is 96.4% and is paired with a high volatility.
