Sharing my Thoughts

The Guns and Dragons slot delivered one of the biggest payouts I’ve had in years, and it came relatively early in my review.

It wasn’t all good news, and this is not the perfect slot, but it’s still an excellent title that blends a bizarre yet brilliant theme with a couple of big features and an RTP that falls a fraction short of 97%.

In my Guns and Dragons slot review, I’ll discuss my experience in more detail, highlighting its features and hopefully helping you to grab a win as big as the one I scored.

Where Can I Play Guns and Dragons for Real Money?

Ready to play the Guns and Dragons slot for real money? All of the casinos below host this game, as well as other titles from Popiplay, such as the excellent Baba Jam.

As you will discover in this slot review, I spent some time in the demo mode before I played for real money, and I got rather lucky in the process. I was a little unfortunate in that my big win came before I switched to real money play, but I still recommend demo play as a way of getting started with new slots.

Not only can you learn about the game’s rules and payouts, but it’s also a good way to teach yourself that slots are supposed to be enjoyable and it’s not all about the money. That way, you’re less likely to get frustrated or feel the need to chase losses. You can just set a responsible stake and enjoy the ride.

Pros & Cons of the Guns and Dragons Slot

I didn’t like the fact that Guns and Dragons only has 20 paylines, as I have found myself playing a lot of Cascading Reels and Megaways slots, and they offer much more in that department. The free spins are not re-triggerable, there’s no instant payout from the Scatters, and the maximum payout is fixed at a very modest 2,800x.

That’s where the negatives end, though.

The free spins feature uses Sticky Wilds, which could line up to produce huge wins. The RTP is high, at 96.93%, and there is an interesting feature in the base game that kept me pressing that “Spin” button and chasing optimal conditions for each batch of 10 spins.

Pros
  • Thumbs-Up A huge free spins feature
  • Thumbs-Up A unique and impressive theme
  • Thumbs-Up Sticky Wilds
  • Thumbs-Up Wild Frames in the base game
  • Thumbs-Up A high RTP of 96.93%
Cons
  • Thumbs-Down A small maximum payout of 2,800x
  • Thumbs-Down No Scatter Pays and no re-triggerable free spins
  • Thumbs-Down Only 20 paylines

Pro Tips

The free spins round is massive in this slot, but only if those Sticky Wilds land. I was lucky enough to land 9 of them on my first spin. They covered the first 3 rows on the first 3 reels, and by the end of the feature, I had Sticky Wilds on every space across 3 of the 4 rows.

There were none on the final row, but I still won a massive 649x. It’s one of the biggest wins I’ve had in a long time, and as it was my first attempt at the feature, I was very happy. Unfortunately, it was in the demo!

Still, it suggests that this game packs a very powerful punch in its main feature, so I recommend budgeting for a session that is long enough to include at least one shot at this round. Learn more about high volatility slots here.

Guns and Dragons Slot Bonus Features

Guns and Dragons didn’t send a lot of bonuses my way. I didn’t even unlock the main free spins round and had to buy access in the demo game. However, there is a base game feature that uses the game’s Wilds in combination with golden frames to create an interesting and engaging mechanic that kept me interested.

Wilds

The Wilds were my favourite thing about this slot, as they hold some of the biggest payouts and connect to multiple features.

It kicks off with the standard Wild, depicting a dragon-riding cowboy in gold. It awards up to 200x for 5 matches, substitutes for other main game symbols, and triggers a 1x payout when just two matches appear in one of the game’s 20 paylines.

The Sticky Wild—the same symbol but with a red rider—only appears during the free spins, and then you have the Wild Frames.

This feature livened up the base game for me, as it runs in cycles of 10 spins, so there’s always something happening. It starts with the Sicky Wild, the game’s Special symbol. When it lands, the space becomes framed with golden lines, and after a 10-spin cycle, these spaces turn into Wild symbols.

If the Special symbol appears in one of the golden frames, it increases the multiplier by 1x for that spin and can grow with each winning combination.

Scatter Symbol

The Scatter symbol features two guns crossed behind a plaque that depicts a dragon skull. It doesn’t trigger any instant payouts, which disappointed me, and while it does activate the game’s free spins, those spins can’t be re-triggered.

A couple more Scatters and the chance to trigger an instant payout and re-trigger the free spins would have greatly elevated the game in my eyes.

Free Spins/Respins

Three Scatter symbols are enough to launch the free spins. There are 10 free spins on offer, and while the reels don’t change all that much, the Sticky Wild symbol makes things much more interesting.

This Special symbol remains on the reels when it lands, and as 5 Wilds trigger the game’s biggest payouts and 2 Wilds generate 1x, this can be a very potent symbol.

Guns and Dragons Slot on Mobile

I tested Guns and Dragons on Android and iOS after initially playing on desktop. I preferred the mobile version, simply because it made for a more tactile experience, and the graphics and animations jumped out at me more on my smartphone and tablet.

There isn’t much of a difference, though, and if you typically stick with desktop play, there’s no reason to force yourself to switch to a mobile device.

My Verdict

I can count on one hand how many times I have won more than 500x in a single slot game, and I’ve probably taken millions of spins in the countless years I’ve been playing and reviewing these games.

For that reason alone, Guns and Dragons will forever have my respect, and it’s not a game I will be forgetting in a hurry. Sure, it was a demo spin, but seeing those numbers climb so high still blew me away.

The feature where I claimed my 649x payout is very impressive, but the addition of Wild features in the base game is also a welcome sight. Add some intriguing fantasy imagery and a unique theme to the mix, and it’s a great slot overall.

It would be better if the free spins could be re-triggered, and I’d also like to see a higher maximum payout, but I can’t be too critical, considering I loved the time that I spent reviewing the Guns and Dragons slot.
