Even hearing the title “Ghostbusters” starts the iconic movie theme music in our head, and if you’re a fan of the 1984 film like I am, you’re going to love this new online slots release. Funnily enough, it’s not IGT’s first Ghostbusters slot, but I think it’s my favourite so far. The levelling up feature really gives you an incentive to keep playing, the fast-paced action keeps things exciting, and the many features available in the game keep things fun. What’s not to love?

Ghostbusters Level Up Plus bonus features

The main point of difference in this slot from other Ghostbusters slots is the Level Up feature, as the name implies. During gameplay, you’ll always be looking out for ghosts, which when zapped away, can help you level up and unlock more valuable slot features. There are quite a few in this game to get your head around, so I’ll give you a handy features guide below.

Ghost Battle feature

The Ghost Battle feature is part of the levelling up function and becomes active when a ghost symbol appears on the middle of the first reel. You’ll then see one of the four Ghostbusters zap the ghost to capture it – bear in mind that this could take up to three zaps.

Once you’ve successfully zapped the ghost and captured it, the ghost will appear in your Ghost Queue (which I’ll go through next) and take you to the next level.

Ghost Queue feature

Any ghosts you have collected will remain in your Ghost Queue and act as wild symbols at the start of a spin. They’ll also apply a multiplier to your wins, which will increase each time you level up. When you start on Level 1, you’ll have the potential to earn multipliers of 3x, 5x or 10x – but these will grow over time.

The ghost wilds can also expand in any direction (even diagonally) to give you more chances of landing wins.

Equipment feature

Any spin can randomly trigger the Equipment Feature, which will apply a modifier to future spins. The modifiers aren’t all available in the first level, so you’ll need to level up before you can unlock all of them. The modifiers can be:

• Proton Pack: Any two A, K, Q or J symbols can transform into Ghostbuster symbols
• Ghost Sniffer: This will add a ghost symbol to the reels, triggering the Ghost Battle feature
• PKE Meter: Any symbols from A to J will turn wild
• Ecto Goggles: When two bonus symbols appear, you’ll be awarded a third to trigger the free spins round. When just one bonus appears, you’ll be awarded two more to trigger the free spins round
• Tobin’s Spirit Guide: More ghost wilds will appear on the screen to help improve your winning chances

Zuul free spins

Three Zuul bonus symbols across reels one, three and five will trigger the free spins round, where you can earn up to 25 free spins. Any wins completed with wilds in this round will be awarded multipliers of up to 25x, and you can also land both extra expanding wilds and the chance to trigger the Ghost Battle feature.

Wilds

Along with the ghosts you collect in your Ghost Queue, the Ghostbusters logo is also wild at any time, and can also award a 40x multiplier on any win it helps to complete. I really enjoyed how the wild symbols can expand in any direction (as opposed to only up and down) – and if you see multiple wins land, you could be in for quite a big win.
