My biggest tip for playing the Forging Wilds slot is to be mindful of the volatility and wary of the “Buy Feature” option. As noted further down, I used this option at a cost of 550x, and received a return of just 24x. Thankfully, I was playing demo mode at the time, and as this feature isn’t available for real money UK players, I wouldn’t have been tempted otherwise.

Some players assume that bonus features will always deliver big wins, especially when they cost so much and are prized so highly. But it goes to prove that even rare features like this don’t always deliver big payouts.

The graphics and Wilds kept me interested during the Forging Wilds base game, but I was playing for the main feature. Known as the Forging Wilds Respins, this feature really kicks things off, but as you’ll see, it doesn’t come with any guarantees, and I didn’t unlock it in the way I would have preferred.

Wilds

The standard Wild symbol substitutes for everything except the Scatter and awards 3x, 7.5x, or 40x for three, four, and five symbols on a payline, respectively.

The titular Forging Wild takes things to another level. Triggered randomly, it turns a standard Wild into one that adds a multiplier and launches a respin. The Wild can remain forged (sticky) after the respin, and the reels will keep spinning for as long as this remains true.

Scatter Symbol

The hammer symbol is the Scatter and is one of the most important symbols in this game. I saw a lot of it in my playthroughs, but not always in the right places.

It can land on all reels, and between three and five are needed to launch the feature. The more you get, the better the feature becomes. A total of three Scatters gives you five Wilds in the feature, jumping to 10 and 15 Wilds for four and five Scatters, respectively.

Free Respins Feature

The main feature on the Forging Wilds slot is billed as a free respin round, as opposed to a free spins feature. I was eager to try this feature and it wasn’t landing organically, so I loaded the demo and used the “Buy Feature” option (not available in all jurisdictions, including the UK).

It gives you two options. The first triggers a random number of Scatters for 75x the stake. The other costs 550x the stake for a guaranteed 5 Scatters. The Wilds you’re given for this feature are stored alongside the reels and randomly pulled onto the reels during each spin. These Wilds are what produce the game’s biggest wins and trigger more respins.

As I was playing the demo, I opted for the most expensive feature option. I expected a windfall of credits. A few minutes later, the feature was over and I had a win of just 24x.

It shows you just how volatile this game is, and how risky “Buy Feature” options are, so always keep this in mind if you ever think of using this option or pushing yourself far to try and unlock it organically.

Forging Wilds Slot Design and Visuals

I don’t recall playing any other slots themed around forges. However, the fantasy and Viking style of this slot means that Forging Wilds reminds me of games like Vikings Go Berzerk, albeit with a different combination of features.

It’s a great setting, with a forge blasting embers in the background and all kinds of weapons, armour, and paraphernalia littering the reels. It’s not very dynamic, though, and the game grid takes up most of the space, so there isn’t much room for the developers to strut their stuff.

It’s good but not mind-blowing.

How to Play the Forging Wilds Slot

There isn’t much to this slot machine. I was able to jump straight in and figure it out without issue. If you’re new to slot machines, here’s a quick intro to help you get started:

• The default bet is usually £5, but you can change this
• Click the minus icon to reduce your stake and the plus icon to increase it
• Press the big button between the stake icons to spin the reels
• You need to match three of the same symbols on a payline (from left to right) to get a win

Forging Wilds Slot Mobile Compatibility

I played the Forging Wilds slot on an iPhone, iPad, and an older Samsung device, and all of them looked and worked great.

The bold colours, clean symbols, and standard grid ensure that this game adapts perfectly to mobile devices. I certainly didn’t have any issues.

Conclusion

I had a good time with the Forging Wilds slot game, but it was far from flawless. I loved the concept of the respins in combination with the Wild feature, even though I didn’t have any luck unlocking it.

But it needs more paylines and action in the base game—that would have really elevated this slot to the next level.
